DEEPAK SARMA

Deepak Sarma started his career in tea as a Trainee Tea Taster with Lipton in 1974. After a stint in Kolkata & Guwahati as taster and buyer, he headed tea tasting and buying operations of Lipton at Siliguri and subsequently, moved as buying coordinator and Head of All India Tea Quality Control, based in Kolkata.

Finally, Deepak Sarma took charge of the largest tea tasting and buying office of erstwhile Brooke Bond Lipton India Ltd. and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. at Guwahati, Assam for almost a decade & was responsible for 65 Million Kgs of tea buying / tasting per annum.

Having spent three decades with Unilever, Deepak Sarma is a qualified tea taster, buyer, blender and a passionate tea man. He took the role of the President of the Guwahati Tea Auction Buyers Association (GTABA) for twelve years and also a member of the Tea Tasting panel of TRA ( Tocklai Research Association) for five years”.

Currently, in addition to looking after day to day tea operations of Eastern Enterprise(Assam), he is also working as a Tea Consultant for WALMART INDIA Private Ltd.
